The 11th annual Rose, White and Blue Parade (RW&B Parade), which has grown from a small street walk to become the largest July 4thparade in San Jose, is proud to announce that Tim Ritchie, President and CEO of The Tech Museum of Innovation, will be honored as the 2018 Grand Marshal.
Each year, the Grand Marshal is carefully chosen to reflect the designated parade theme. This year's theme is “Technology in the Valley,” recognizing and honoring San Jose's important role in technological innovation that transformed the Valley of Hearts' Delight into internationally renowned Silicon Valley. Ritchie's commitment to fostering both community and technological innovation makes him the perfect honoree for the 2018 RW&B Parade. During the past seven years of Ritchie's leadership, The Tech has transformed its exhibits and programs to become more relevant to schools, families and the community, invigorating its mission of "inspiring the innovator in everyone."
The RW&B Parade continues a tradition of more than a century of parades and celebrations on The Alameda in San Jose, and community is at its heart. Over 30,000 spectators gather along the route through charming and historic streets of the Rose Garden neighborhoods festooned with patriotic decorations to enjoy lawn parties and cheer 2,000 participants representing over 100 organizations marching toward the traditional community block party and festival on The Alameda at the parade's conclusion.
